Virginia (Schneider) Onserud, 101 of Kenosha, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, November 14, 2023 at her residence.
She was born on September 19, 1922 to the late Adam and Mary (Ollenberger) Schneider in Herington, Kansas. She received her education in Herington, Kansas and attended a Radio Technical School in Omaha, Nebraska.
She worked as a secretary at a B-29 Staging Base during WWII. After the War she moved to LaCrosse, Wisconsin and was employed at the Electric Auto Lite Company where she met her husband, Gerald Onserud. They moved to Kenosha in 1959. Virginia was an admitting clerk at Kenosha Hospital and also worked as a secretary or Kenosha Unified Schools until her retirement in 1985.
After retirement, Virginia and her husband traveled and liked to visit relatives and friends. They also enjoyed playing golf and bridge.
Virginia’s faith and her church, Trinity Lutheran were very important to her. She belonged to the Bible Study Groups, assisted in finance and enjoyed many years of singing in the choir.
Gerald preceded her in death on February 25, 2008.
Virginia is survived by her sons Hal David (Lynn Jones) Onserud of Santa Barbara, California and Guy (Dianne) Onserud of Kenosha, her daughter Sarah (Russell Straley) Servais Rusecki of Kenosha and her grandsons Jason (Helen) Onserud of New York and Kyle Servais of Kenosha. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Private Family Services will be held. Memorials would be appreciated to a charity of one’s choice.
