Wilhelmina VanDenBergh-Rauen of Kenosha WI peacefully passed away on Tuesday, 18 January 2022 at Hospice House Alliance in Kenosha. She was best known as WillsC or Willsy with an uniquely friendly personality . A true Dutch girl, raised 1 of 9 children and born in Laren (NH) the Netherlands on 16 Oct 1932.
Willsy was a World War II survivor as a teenager, who moved to Chicago in 1970 along with her husband Pieter and their three sons to pursuit the American dream!
She very much enjoyed traveling the world with her Merchant Marine Captain husband and spending time with her three sons, four granddaughters, and four great-grandchildren. Her hobbies included fishing, playing golf & tennis, and occasionally playing bridge. In her younger days, she could dance the nite away and in the end, she danced all the way into assisted living. She loved to watch Bears football, Cubs Baseball, Blackhawks hockey, Bulls Basketball & her favorite TV shows with Steve Harvey. She had an incredible appetite for ice cream only to be topped with lots of whip cream. Willsy always had the need for speed, whether it was on her scooters, motorized wheelchair, or her ’73 Firebird TransAm. She forged a special lasting friendship with her doggie & life-long buddy Lobbus.
Willsy is survived by her two sons, Pieter (Ranae) VandenBergh, Roland (Adriana) VanDenBergh, four granddaughters (Michelle, Shannon, Candice & Mariska), three great-granddaughters (Chloe, Piper & Caitlin), and finally her great-grandson Wyatt Pieter.
She was preceded in death by her two fantastic husbands Pieter G. VanDenBergh, Dr. Leonard Rauen, and her youngest son, Nicolaas VanDenBergh.
In lieu of flowers, request donations be made to St Jude Children’s Hospital or Hospice Alliance in Kenosha.
