William “Bill” Metallo, 82, of Kenosha, WI, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital.
Born on December 3, 1940, in Kenosha, WI; he was the son of the late Ralph and Angeline (Perri) Metallo.
Bill served in the United States Air Force from 1960, until he was honorably discharged in 1964.
On July 27, 1962, he married his beautiful bride, Judith “Judie” Marion in Roswell, NM. They had met on a blind date at Wilmot Raceway, a place where they would continue to make wonderful family memories over the years.
He worked for the United States Post Office from 1966 until 1971. He was employed by the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department for 20 years, retiring in 1992. He was honored to be the first Deputy Friendly for seven years. He truly enjoyed the community outreach, leading the Neighborhood Watch, Stranger Danger, Bike Rodeos, chaperoning Safety Patrol trips to Washington DC, Madison, and Wisconsin Dells. During his last trip to Washington DC, he had the honor of laying the wreath at The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
Bill was a member of the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Officers Association. He enjoyed hobbies with his family, dirt track and stock car racing, NASCAR, working on model airplanes and cars, and watching the Packers. He and Judie loved going out to breakfast each morning, spending time with their breakfast community. Frequenting rummage sales, they were affectionately known as the King and Queen of rummage sales. Bill didn’t believe in paying to fix anything, but instead would fix it himself.
He is survived by his loving wife, Judie Metallo of Kenosha, WI; three sons, Robert (Laura) Metallo, Timothy (Michelle) Metallo, and Kevin (Jackie) Metallo all of Kenosha, WI; 13 grandchildren; and his sister, Rose (Greg) Daniel.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Emil Metallo, Louise Bonofiglio, Ernest Metallo, Peter Metallo, Frank Metallo, Carmen Metallo, and Rita Vena.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Aurora Hospice at Home, and Dr. Rocco for their kind and compassionate care.
